ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISHIONERS – ELECTION OF CHURCHWARDENS
The Annual Meeting of Parishioners will take place on Wednesday 21st April 2021 at 7pm by zoom. You may connect to the meeting by either a video or telephone link (if the latter at local rate). The links will be sent out in advance automatically to all on the church emailing list; otherwise to obtain video or phone zoom links to the Annual Meeting of Parishioners please contact curate Revd Graham Naylor firstname.lastname@example.org / 07768 283636.
The business of the meeting will be to elect two Churchwardens for the ensuing year. Parishioners whose names are entered on either the Church Electoral Roll, or on the register of local government electors for the Parish of Lavenham, are entitled to vote. Candidates for election must be on the Church Electoral Roll, be actual communicants, at least 21 years old and need to be nominated and seconded in writing by persons entitled to attend the meeting. Nomination papers (available in Church) must be received by The Rector before the commencement of the meeting.
Note: One of our present Churchwardens will not be seeking re-election. We aim to elect two Churchwardens to serve in this capacity for the year ahead.
ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING – ELECTION To fill PCC Vacancies
The Annual Parochial Church Council Meeting (APCM) will be held on Wednesday 21st April 2021 at 7.05pm by zoom (or immediately following the Annual Meeting of Parishioners). Video and phone zoom links for this meeting as shown above for the Annual Meeting of Parishioners.
The meeting includes a review of the past year with reports available in church, online (or by post on request from the PCC Secretary) 10 days prior to the meeting. The business of the meeting includes the election or re-election of PCC members to serve in this capacity for the year ahead. Members elected are entitled to serve for 3 years continously which may be renewed for a further 3 years, after which they must stand down for at least one year. Vacancies occur on a staggered rotation basis, and this year we have 6 vacancies to fill as a result or through ‘early retirement’. Anyone is entitled to stand for election provided their name has been entered on the Church electoral roll for 6 months, they are an actual communicant member of the church, and at least 16 years of age.
From 21st March nominations will be accepted for (i) for the role of Churchwarden (ii) for PCC membership. Nominees should enter their names in the Elections Book at the back of church with their signature, as also with a proposer’s and a seconder’s signature. Do please consider prayerfully whether you can help in the leadership and direction of the church and play a part in its decision-making in this way.
